About Japji Sahib CD

About the Translation

Once there walked on the earth a child with spirit so beautiful that she touched people's hearts and inspired them. Her name was Nav Jiwan Kaur. One of the people she moved was Sardani Premka Kaur. She had written the translation for Peace Lagoon and at the time was still translating for the Siri Singh Sahib (Yogi Bhajan).

When Nav Jiwan Kaur's soul left her body, Premka told us that the event had affected her writing. She said that the Siri Singh Sahib had always told her she should write in rhyme more because the Guru was written in rhyme, "I couldn't", she said, but, she went on, the events of Nav Jiwan's death had changed that. For some reason, the rhyming was coming more simply after the death.

So, that is why, when I sat down to translate Japji Sahib for my purposes I thought I would try to write in rhymes, and to my suprise, I found I could!

But then, maybe I had help!
